Something about
Almost all
types of RNA molecules contain 2'-O-methylnucleotides: tRNA, snRNA, small
nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) and rRNA.
tRNAs contain the highest number
of modified nucleotides of all cellular RNAs
The surface is colored according
to the distribution of the electrostatic potential (positive,
negative), as above. A large positive
patch is visible in the predicted substrate-binding surface, showing complementarity
to the negatively charged phosphate backbone of tRNA.
In the docked model, the core structural elements and the catalytic residues
of Trm7p were superimposed onto the corresponding elements in VP39 and
guanine-34 of tRNA(Phe) was superimposed onto coordinates of the target
guanine in VP39-mRNA complex.
